Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan are superheroes. Mask doesn't make anyone a superhero - Anurag

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, who has written the upcoming superhero film 'Bhavesh Joshi', today said a mask does not make an actor a superhero.

'Bhavesh Joshi', featuring Harshvardhan Kapoor in the lead, is directed by Vikramaditya Motwane.

Asked about younger generation of actors not getting acceptance in the superhero genre and if that is one of the reasons why filmmakers are not making such movies, Anurag said, "I don't think a filmmaker thinks like that. If a filmmaker is obsessed with an idea, that is what drives him to make the film."

"He doesn't think about rejection or anything. Our actors are superheroes without the mask. What will happen if you make a superhero a superhero? Like 'Ironman' can't be a 'Spiderman'," the 45-year-old director-producer said.

"Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan are superheroes. Mask doesn't make anyone a superhero. It is a different film and has a different take of Vikramaditya Motwane," he added.

Asked about Indian filmmakers making movies on the lines of Hollywood films such as 'Avengers: Infinity War', Anurag said budget is still an issue.

"Even if we combine the budget of all the films we make, that would be less than the budget of 'Avengers'. The English language lends itself to a larger audience like how Hindi reaches a larger audience in India."

The team of 'Bhavesh Joshi' said their film will see Harshvardhan as a student-turned-vigilante. The actor said 'Bhavesh Joshi' is not a regular superhero film.

"It is not a quintessential superhero film like 'Krrish'. The idea is that there is a hero within all of us. It is about action speaking louder than words, it is about if something is not right what are you going to do about it? It is a super power, it is a real film," the 27-year-old actor added.

Motwane believes that vigilante culture is in existence in the Hindi cinema since 1970s and it is reflected in some of the films of Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Dharmendra and others.

"This is throwback to 70s. The superhero genre came in America from 30s when corruption and crime was very rampant. When the justice system is not working out, you need vigilante justice."

"There was time when you need a hero. That person can be a with or without a face. Our heroes are about vigilante justice like 'Singham' is vigilante and Salman Khan has played vigilante in so many films,"he said.
The film in set to release on May 25.

A Shah Rukh Khan fan decided to propose to her boyfriend when he wouldn’t do it for her.
Let’s put it in straight, clear words: Shah Rukh Khan has ruined lives. Sure he gave so many of us a purpose to live and a renewed faith in love through his beautiful movies, we still can’t deny the blatant destruction he left in his path.

The actor’s romantic movies, the love songs, the dreamy locations, the fairytale proposals have been raising women’s hopes from men (and love in general) for quite a few decades now. We too want a Raj for our Simran and a Rahul to our Anjali. But because we are no Simrans or Anjalis or Poojas ourselves, we rarely find ourselves in a love story so pure. However, a woman decided to break out of the dream and create her own fairytale.

In a recent post made by India’s answer to Humans of New York, Humans of Bombay shared the story of a fed-up Bengali woman who decided to propose to her boyfriend when he would not give her the ‘Shah Rukh Khan treatment.’ Because their parents took a lot of time to be convinced for the wedding, the couple didn’t really have much scope for a full-blown, surprise filmy proposal. But the Bollywood crazy bride decided she wanted to turn Shah Rukh Khan for her husband and proposed to him on his birthday instead.

Read her story here:

“Shahrukh Khan ruined my life!

Since I was a little girl, I always dreamed of having the ‘perfect proposal’ from the perfect man. Violins would start playing in the background, he would walk up to me slowly, while the wind blew in my hair, fall to his knees and hand me the ring.

But that never happened. In fact, we found ourselves in the middle of this mess where I was trying to convince my Bengali parents to let me marry a Punjabi Baniya! We’d been dating for 3 years, but the majority of that time was spent on bringing our families together. At one point in our relationship, we were sure that we were going to get married --so he never even tried to ‘surprise’ me with a proposal.

Amidst all this drama of a big, fat Indian wedding, I realised-- I never had my filmy moment! So, on his birthday, I decided to take the matter into my own hands. I planned a surprise party at the restaurant where we had our first date, and as soon as he walked in-- I asked the DJ to play “Marry Me” by Bruno Mars and fell to my knees when he walked in.

I said ‘Ashish Aggrawal-- I want to spend the rest of my life laughing, crying and fighting with you-- will you marry me?’ He looked at me, smirked, pulled me in for a hug and whispered - ‘let’s hope our kids aren’t as filmy!’

And just like that, I created the moment I’d been waiting for..why do women have to wait for the guy to propose? It’s a new day, new age-- if you like him, then maybe you should put a ring on it!”

While most comments are praising the woman and her story, many missed the sarcasm of her tone by a mile. They are asking her what is Shah Rukh’s fault in this situation. “SRK didnt ruin your life.....he showed you how beautiful it can be...he never told anyone this will happen with everyone off the reel.....besides did you just compare ur man with king of romance?,” a comment read. We guess people will always find something to hate on even on a wholesome post as this one. Here’s hoping they catch the sarcasm in the headline above.

Film with Shah Rukh, Alia not shelved: Karan Johar

Karan Johar quashes rumours claiming that his next production venture, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt, has been shelved.
A few months ago, it was announced that Shah Rukh Khan is set to team up with Alia Bhatt for director Gauri Shinde’s yet-untitled next. Immediately after the film’s announcement, the unusual casting raised many eyebrows. Soon reports of the film getting shelved started doing the rounds. But Karan Johar, who is producing the film, is amused with such unsubstantiated stories, and instead says that he is looking forward to teaming up with old friend Shah Rukh again.

“I am very excited [to work with Shah Rukh]. The casting of the film is very unusual, and that’s why, of course, there has been a lot of speculation about what that film is about. But I have left it to Gauri to tell the world what it is about when it comes out,” says Karan.
In fact, the film-maker has no clue what resulted in the rumours about the film getting shelved. He says, “I really don’t know where all these rumours came from. That film is very much on track, and we are starting it in the middle of January with a non-stop schedule. All of us are very excited to make that movie,” says Karan, who recently filmed part of his next directorial venture — featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Sharma — in London, UK, in a long shooting schedule.

According to the makers of Zero, the production of the film began this week in Huntsville. They have already filmed at different locations including Grille 29, the Huntsville Botanical Garden and the Hindu Cultural Center of Alabama in Harvest.

Film co-producer and Shah Rukh Khan’s business manager, Karuna Badwal, recently revealed some interesting details about the shoot at the Hindu Cultural Center of North Alabama outside Huntsville. A couple of days ago several artists and locals were seen dressed in Indian traditional clothes for a scene to be filmed at a temple.
Karuna Badwal revealed that some scenes of Zero will be filmed at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center. She further revealed that 90 people have flown to Huntsville from India and 50 have been hired from American production companies. The film is touted to be the most expensive film in regards to the technical aspect of it.

Furthermore, Prashant Shah, the U.S. executive producer for the film, has arranged the production in Huntsville and worked with the Alabama Film Office and the U.S. Space & Rocket Center.
Shah Rukh Khan is essaying the role of a vertically challenged man. The film stars Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma. This is their second collaboration as trio after Yash Chopra’s last directorial, Jab Tak Hai Jaan. It will also have simply amazing cameos of Salman Khan, Rani Mukerji, Kajol, Alia Bhatt, Karisma Kapoor and Juhi Chawla. This will be, technically, the last film of late actress Sridevi.

Best Moments From Shah Rukh Khan's Hilarious Podcast With AIB

‘All India Bakchod’s new podcast is out and it features Shah Rukh Khan (the un-Roastable). And like anything that features Shah Rukh Khan (except ‘Ram Jaane’ and ‘Happy New Year’) it’s GOLD! Tanmay Bhat, Rohan Joshi, Khamba and Ashish Shakya hung out with SRK in his library (yeah take a moment, or several, to feel jealous) and it was a laughter riot throughout. In case you missed it (which you shouldn’t have) here are the ten best moments.

1. The podcast started with Tanmay Bhat confronting Shah Rukh Khan on why he never actually invited AIB home after promising to play FIFA. “I’m wondering why today also,” Shah Rukh Khan replied and gave him a much needed reality check.

2. Tanmay Bhat went on to other things only to be interrupted by Shah Rukh Khan for this important question – “You really thought I was going to call you next day for FIFA?”

3. SRK spoke about being in the news for absolutely nothing and what he thinks is the ultimate solution to it all. “Ive decided anyone says anything about me- wrong, right, good, bad ugly - I will just go to their house. Because at the end of it all it’s all about a selfie. I’ve decided one day I’ll take 7 days off and take selfies with everyone who has a mouth to speak with or fingers to write with, I will be the most powerful man in this country.” Never wanted to use #Goals so badly every before!

4. Tanmay Bhat mentioned the recent debate around why India doesn’t have a ‘Meryl Streep of its own and after of course, speaking his mind about how journalists put unnecessary pressure on celebrities, Shah Rukh Khan gave a very valid justification defending himself – “Kya hua na is baar Filmfare Award nahi mila…milta toh yahi speech deta. Jab sala award hi nahi milega toh speech kaise dunga”.

5. The mention of the infamous AIB Roast came up and Shah Rukh Khan was the most relatable human ever when he said he found comfort in knowing the Roast was ‘the end’ of AIB’s career. “The Roast was your ‘Fan’,” he said. Give him an award just for this epic burn!

6. Tanmay Bhat - What is it like dancing at weddings? Do you feel weird being the one to steal the spotlight away from the bride and groom?

Shah Rukh Khan – I mean…they should be happy I’m not stealing the bride away.

*wipes tears of laughter*

7. He revealed why he has never advertised an itch guard or an anti-dandruff shampoo and it was the cockiest yet HAHAHAHAH-funny. “I find it odd and I’m a little shy. Having to do things like dandruff on my shoulder and all is awkward for me. I always say, “look the whole idea of this ad is that this doesn’t happen to me so people will take it because ‘oh it doesn’t happen to SRK because he uses this product’. If you show it happening to me, I’m a regular guy. I’m not a regular guy.”  I’m Shah Rukh Khan. Mujhe daad, khaaj, khujli nahi hoti.”

8. AIB also asked him the customary 2016 question – “did demonetization affect you?” They got the loudest laugh in response.

9. He also made some hilarious revelations from the 90s, when he did his first few International Tours and how a lot of his contemporaries turned up drunk and high on stage (and eventually off it) and did literally nothing.

10. Shah Rukh Khan had us rolling on the floor laughing (no kidding) when he started talking about his ‘cheap thrill’. “I was doing an ad for a biscuit. And there are only couple of ways that even the most varied kind of an actor can eat a biscuit. You can be in love with it, you can be angry with it – I tried all of that. But a biscuit is not eaten with any emotion you know. It’s eaten with biscuit emotion.” He went on to narrate how ridiculous some people sound in the advertising world and how his super protective team dealt with them. “A lot of times ek aadmi ya aurat aate hain jo emotionally involved hote hain apne product ke sath and rightly so aur who mujhko aake bolte hain ‘Sir I want you to eat the biscuit. The feeling of homeliness, the feeling of years of gone by, the feeling of who you are. The feeling of all your achievements gone in that one bite’ and my biggest cheap thrill is that my team is like ‘itni feeling aati toh yaar Filmfare mil jata’ They’re very protective. They are like ‘Itna bola yaar sir ko. Itna toh inke baap ko bhi kisi ne nahi bola’.”

Oh, and Shah Rukh Khan also offered to do a self-scripted wedding show with AIB and that’s kinda become my new purpose in life now – to see it happening. So please don’t ditch, AIB and SRK!

He just wanted to bathe in the same water as Shah Rukh Khan: SRK shares when a fan jumped into his swimming pool

He just wanted to bathe in the same water as Shah Rukh Khan: SRK shares when a fan jumped into his swimming pool

Bollywood actors come across fans of all kinds and behaviour when they step out. If we talk about King Khan - Shah Rukh Khan's fans, one can't even imagine the craze and the level of madness that's there in them for their favourite star.
While some fans worship their favourite stars, there are others who go to extreme ends just to prove their affection for the actor. We came across this incident in the words of SRK himself, in which he narrated how a fan entered his abode Mannat in Bandra, stripped and went in for a swim in his swimming pool.

Shah Rukh was speaking to The Independent in UK right before the release of his film Fan. In the said interview, he went on to share this crazy incident. He was quoted as saying, "One fan got into my house, stripped off his clothes and went for a swim in my pool. When the security guards confronted him, he said he just wanted to bathe in the same water as Shah Rukh Khan. He didn’t want to meet me or have my autograph, just to bathe in the water.”

How weird is that? While every year we witness the humongous number of fans who gather outside Mannat on Shah Rukh's birthday  just to catch a glimpse of their favourite star and wish him well. But this level of audacity was never before heard of. Bizarre!

'Don 3': Shah Rukh Khan and Farhan Akhtar team up sans Priyanka Chopra

Basic idea of Don 3 is locked and Priyanka Chopra will be replaced

The last movie from the Don franchise came out in 2011 and for the last 7 years, fans have been eagerly waiting for Farhan Akhtar and Shah Rukh Khan to bring its third instalment. The work on the script of the film, which stars Shah Rukh Khan in the titular role, has finally begun and makers are expected to give the final narration to the superstar in next few months.

“We have locked the basic idea of the film and shared it with Shah Rukh Khan. The story this time around is set in the Middle East and a major chunk of the film would be shot in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The script is currently being worked on and we plan to go on floors sometime next year,” said a source close to the development.

Yes, we knew you were awaiting some sort of confirmation regarding the speculations around 'Don 3' and today, we come bearing good news. It is reported that Shah Rukh Khan will return to the franchise after almost eight years and he is all set to team up with Farhan Akhtar for it. Will Priyanka Chopra be a part of the film? Well, it seems that the film will go on floors without the actress and as of yet, news of a leading lady hasn't been confirmed.
Shah Rukh Khan is currently busy shooting for Aanand L. Rai’s 'Zero' and post shooting for the film, he will begin shooting for 'Don 3'. The script of the film, helmed by Farhan will be perfected by the time Shah Rukh finishes shooting for 'Zero' so that they can start working on the franchise as soon as possible. Farhan always said that ‘Don 3’ was definitely happening, but that he wasn’t sure when. However, looks like things are finally moving forward now.

Talking about Priyanka Chopra’s involvement in the film, the source said, “Since the story is set in a different region, it doesn’t warrant her character. We shall decide on the final casting of the film once the final script has been locked.”

When asked if Don 3 will be Shah Rukh’s next film after Zero, the source said, “The two scripts that he is considering currently include Salute and Don 3. There is a huge possibility of Salute going on floors before Don 3. He shall announce his next film only after finishing the shoot of Zero.”

Talking about Zero, it is Shah Rukh’s dream project which is in the making for a long time now. The actor has promised that it will be the most advanced film ever. Also starring Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma in lead roles, the film is directed by Aanand L Rai and is slated to release on 21st December 2018.

Dinesh Karthik appointed Kolkata Knight Riders captain for IPL 2018

1. Dinesh Karthik will lead KKR in IPL 2018

NEW DELHI: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have named wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik as their captain for the upcoming season of Indian Premier League which starts next month. Announcing their decision on Saturday, KKR also revealed Robin Uthappa, one of the frontrunners for the top job, has been appointed as the vice-captain.

Karthik was brought by KKR for Rs 7.4 crore at the IPL auction in January this year and it will be his maiden stint with the former two-time champions. Karthik, 32, brings with him a wealth of experience having played for as many as five different IPL franchisees so far.
"It is an honour to represent Kolkata Knight Riders, one of the most successful franchises in the IPL and I look forward to this new challenge. I am excited about the squad that has been assembled, which has a great combination of experience and youth,"
 Karthik said

He has been part of Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians, Kings XI Punjab Delhi Daredevils and recent Gujarat Lions.
Across 10 seasons in 152 matches, Karthik has scored 2903 runs at 24.81 with 14 half-centuries. Apart from that he has 88 catches and 26 stumpings to his name.

The KKR captaincy spot was lying vacant after the franchisee decided to not retain and subsequently buy back Gautam Gambhir under whom they twice won the IPL title in 2012 and 2014.

Dinesh Karthik was appointed the new captain of Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League, the franchise announced on Sunday. “Robin Uthappa and Dinesh Karthik are according to me are the front runners for KKR leadership role this season. But if I had to choose I would incline towards Robin Uthappa because he has been with Kolkata since a long time and if I have to compare these two players in the T20 format Uthappa is a match winner as compared to Karthik,” said Chopra.

8:08 AM IST: Hello and welcome everybody!

Kolkata Knight Riders won the 2012 and 2014 IPL under Gautam Gambhir and the new captain will have the onerous task of carrying the good work forward. “It is important for KKR to entrust their new captain with the kind of faith and stability they showed in Gautam Gambhir. When I look at the current KKR squad, I feel Robin Uthappa is the best player to lead the team,” Sourav Ganguly, former India and KKR captain, said.

“Though, the team has experienced campaigners in Dinesh Karthik and Chris Lynn but Uthappa has been with the team for over 4 years now and he’s had considerable experience in dealing with the dynamics of the side, not to mention that he’s a fan favourite as well. An aggressive batsman himself, he will be the right successor to the legacy that KKR has come to build over the last decade.”

The 2018 IPL will start with defending champions Mumbai Indians hosting two-time winners Chennai Super Kings. Kolkata Knight Riders will begin their IPL 2018 journey at Eden Gardens against Virat Kohli led Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 8, 2018.

Dinesh Karthik has been appointed the new captain of Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League, the franchise announced on Sunday (March 4). The 32-year-old, who was picked up by Knight Riders for INR 7.4 Crore in this year's mega auction, was one of the front-runners to lead the side after the franchise decided not to retain/buy back their long-serving captain Gautam Gambhir.

Robin Uthappa, who was also among the top contenders for the job, has been named as the vice-captain.

Karthik has previous experience of captaining Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket. He led Tamil Nadu to a title triumph in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2009-10. He was also the captain of the India Red side that won the Duleep Trophy last year. In the T20 format, Karthik led TUTI Patriots to the Tamil Nadu Premier League title in the 2016 edition.

"It is an honour to represent Kolkata Knight Riders, one of the most successful franchises in the IPL and I look forward to this new challenge. I am excited about the squad that has been assembled, which has a great combination of experience and youth. I will do my best to represent brand KKR and the millions of KKR fans," the newly appointed captain said.

Uthappa, who has played for the franchise since 2014, observed that his association with Karthik goes back in time to Under-17 days and he was looking forward to his new role. "DK and I know each other from our U-17 playing days; I'm really excited to work with him.

"I'm sure all of Kolkata will be right behind DK, as will I and as will the rest of the team. I'm going to be available to DK anytime he needs me, always ready to share my inputs. DK and I have known each other since our Under-17 days, so looking forward to working with him," he said.

"I think the thing that stood out is that Karthik is at the age now in his career where he's got the best years of his career in front of him," assistant coach Simon Katich noted.

"He's been involved in the IPL for 10 years. He's got a fantastic domestic record captaining Tamil Nadu in the T20 tournament there. I think he's got a 72% win-rate which is outstanding as a T20 skipper. And obviously, the other thing about him is that he's got a lot of respect from the players given what he's achieved on the field and what he's achieved as a captain domestically. He knows the conditions extremely well. He knows all the overseas players inside out having played so well over the last 10 years and this is a great time to give that opportunity to him and see what he can do," he added.

Karthik played for Gujarat Lions in the 2017 IPL, compiling 361 runs at an impressive average of 36.1. In the sixth edition of IPL, he played a key role in helping Mumbai Indians clinch the coveted trophy by scoring 510 runs and effecting 14 dismissals. The veteran 'keeper-batsman, who has also played for Kings XI Punjab, Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challengers Bangalore, has composed 2903 runs at a strike rate of 125.94 and effected 114 dismissals in his IPL career spanning 152 matches. He has also played 228 T20s, apart from 14 internationals for India, with 4441 runs and 186 dismissals to his name.

Two time champions Knight Riders will kick start their campaign against Royal Challengers at home on April 8.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates -- Dubai investigators on Tuesday closed the case into the death last weekend of Indian movie icon Sridevi, calling it an accidental drowning. The 54-year-old Sridevi, who was known by only one name, drowned in a hotel bathtub after losing consciousness, officials say. Police officials have said the autopsy also revealed alcohol in her system.

"The case has now been closed," the state-run Dubai Media office tweeted.

Her family has been given permission to take her body back to India, officials said. Her death has been front-page news in India, where Bollywood stars command an almost mythical status. Fans have been gathering in front of the Mumbai home of her brother-in-law, prominent actor Anil Kapoor.

The coverage has been both lurid and restrained, with one TV station showing a reporter talking about her death from inside a bathtub, and many newspapers not mentioning the alcohol reports.

Sridevi was the most famous Bollywood actress of the 1980s and '90s, and the first woman to get top billing in an industry then completely dominated by men. Starting out as a child star in south Indian regional movies, she later became known for her impeccable comic timing as well as her dancing skills -- a serious asset in a country where song-and-dance melodramas are a movie staple.

She was embalmed Tuesday in a simple government-run mortuary in a dusty neighborhood of squat, square buildings that house some of Dubai's immense population of foreign workers, many of whom come from South Asia. On Tuesday afternoon, a crowd of Indian laborers gathered around a fence near the mortuary, looking in and talking softly among themselves about her.

Indian media reported that Anil Ambani, a wealthy Mumbai-based industrialist, dispatched a private plane to Dubai to carry Sridevi's body back home. It was not immediately clear when that would happen.
