Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan are superheroes. Mask doesn't make anyone a superhero - Anurag

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, who has written the upcoming superhero film 'Bhavesh Joshi', today said a mask does not make an actor a superhero.

'Bhavesh Joshi', featuring Harshvardhan Kapoor in the lead, is directed by Vikramaditya Motwane.

Asked about younger generation of actors not getting acceptance in the superhero genre and if that is one of the reasons why filmmakers are not making such movies, Anurag said, "I don't think a filmmaker thinks like that. If a filmmaker is obsessed with an idea, that is what drives him to make the film."

"He doesn't think about rejection or anything. Our actors are superheroes without the mask. What will happen if you make a superhero a superhero? Like 'Ironman' can't be a 'Spiderman'," the 45-year-old director-producer said.

"Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan are superheroes. Mask doesn't make anyone a superhero. It is a different film and has a different take of Vikramaditya Motwane," he added.

Asked about Indian filmmakers making movies on the lines of Hollywood films such as 'Avengers: Infinity War', Anurag said budget is still an issue.

"Even if we combine the budget of all the films we make, that would be less than the budget of 'Avengers'. The English language lends itself to a larger audience like how Hindi reaches a larger audience in India."

The team of 'Bhavesh Joshi' said their film will see Harshvardhan as a student-turned-vigilante. The actor said 'Bhavesh Joshi' is not a regular superhero film.

"It is not a quintessential superhero film like 'Krrish'. The idea is that there is a hero within all of us. It is about action speaking louder than words, it is about if something is not right what are you going to do about it? It is a super power, it is a real film," the 27-year-old actor added.

Motwane believes that vigilante culture is in existence in the Hindi cinema since 1970s and it is reflected in some of the films of Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Dharmendra and others.

"This is throwback to 70s. The superhero genre came in America from 30s when corruption and crime was very rampant. When the justice system is not working out, you need vigilante justice."

"There was time when you need a hero. That person can be a with or without a face. Our heroes are about vigilante justice like 'Singham' is vigilante and Salman Khan has played vigilante in so many films,"he said.
The film in set to release on May 25.

Remember when Mr Modi knocked the ultimate fashion sixer outside the park by wearing a suit the stripes of which actually were his own name embroidered in a loop? Here is a reminder.
Well we thought no one could top it, because of its sheer uniqueness. Probably we are right, too, but that doesn't mean no one can give him a tough competition. It just happened, and the attempt was made by none other than our very own Mr Shah Rukh Khan. SRK was just spotted wearing a jacket that had his own name - SRK - embroidered on it. Take a look.

Isn't it dope? We are in love with this 'Got my name on, so?' vibe - delightfully nonchalant, yet charmingly narcissistic. We don't know anyone who can pull it off without looking like they are trying hard.
Coming to his outfit, we approve of the choice of white t-shirt and white sneakers. What other colour can possibly hold its own against the black playfulness going on? The plain white t-shirt is the perfect accompaniment to the casual baggy black jacket with its yellow detailing.
We like the vertical slogan detailing on the jacket sleeves, not to mention the 'S R K' in yellow on the left side, casually embroidered on as a part of the design. If someone didn't know who he is, they could totally overlook it as a part of the jacket itself. But who doesn't know SRK? Is it the part of an inside joke or a bet against someone? Knowing how humorous he is, it's totally possible. All we can say is that it's dope.

After Mera Joota Hai Japani, Deadpool 2 to feature song from Shah Rukh Khan’s Swades

After playing Mera Joota Hai Japani in the first film, Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool 2 promotes Dopinder to sidekick and also features Yuhi Chala Chal from the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer, Swades.

Indian fans are being given special treatment in Marvel movies - the first Deadpool movie opened with the evergreen Hindi song, Mera Joota Hai Japani and there was a reference to Hanuman in Black Panther. And now, according to reports, the new Deadpool movie features the song Yun Hi Chala Chal from Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Swades. Spoilers follow, so if you don’t want to know details about a particular scene in the film, stop reading.

According to a report in BollywoodLife, the song is playing on Dopinder’s stereo when the Indian cabbie is driving Deadpool, Cable and Domino to a destination. Cable is annoyed at the choice of soundtrack and even commands Dopinder to turn the song off, which prompts Deadpool to call him a racist.

Music and Dopinder’s nationality aren’t the only Indian connections in Deadpool 2 - the Hindi dub version will feature Ranveer Singh voicing the central character and YouTuber Bhuvan Bam voicing Dopinder.

Directed by David Leitch, Deadpool 2 stars Ryan Reynolds, Josh Brolin, Zazie Beetz, Karan Soni, Morena Baccarin and others. The film will release in India on Friday and is projected to make over Rs 2,300 crore in its worldwide opening weekend.

[Spoiler] SRK fans will have a double treat while watching Deadpool 2 – here’s why

[Spoiler] SRK fans will have a double treat while watching Deadpool 2 – here’s the Reasons, why ?

Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool 2 opened to rave critical reviews worldwide. The actor shines bright in this sequel that is raunchier, funnier and weirder than Deadpool. Ryan teams up with Josh Brolin and Zazie Beetz to star in what could be tagged as the funniest superhero movie till date.

There were many outstanding moments in the entire movie and some hilarious digs that made us beam from ear to ear. Deadpool 2 writers did a splendid job in targeting all the superheroes in the universe and not differentiating between DC or Marvel. And while chuckling to this Merc with a mouth’s funny one liners wasn’t enough for us to cheer for him, the makers had an additional surprise for all their Indian fans. Yes, they had a Shah Rukh Khan song playing in the background in one of the scenes and me being a true SRK fan, I was all sold at that moment.

Wondering which Shah Rukh Khan song did they play in the background? Well, it was Yun Hi Chala Chal from Ashutosh Gowariker directorial Swades that released in 2004. Yes, you can hear the AR Rahman composition being played in the background when Deadpool and his X-Force are in Dopinder’s cab going for their next mission.

The song will instantly bring a smile on the face of all the Indian fans and SRK fans may even dance with joy. It was great to see some Indian connection in the movie after Dopinder of course. Wonder if the Zero actor even knew about it or he was totally clueless.

I was one of the few lucky ones who had an opportunity to watch and review the movie three days prior to release. The movie was personally very engaging for me. You will find yourself beaming from ear to ear on most of the occasions and you can blame the dialogues for giving you a major stomach ache.

Self praising, hilarious and fourth wall breaking lines will keep you entertained throughout the film. While I have seen many superheroes movies till date, who catered to typical family audiences, Deadpool is different. It’s gross and justifies its R-rating which ultimately works in its favour. The movie is expected to create a havoc at the box office just like its prequel.

Shah Rukh Khan, the top movie star in India and one of the top stars in the world, is filming his new movie in Alabama this month, producers say.
Production began this week in Huntsville of the film "Zero" starring Khan and Indian actresses Katrina Kaif and Anuska Sharma. Crews have filmed at Grille 29, the Huntsville Botanical Garden and the Hindu Cultural Center of Alabama in Harvest.

Film co-producer Karuna Badwal, who is also Khan's business manager, talked about the project Thursday at the Hindu Cultural Center of North Alabama outside Huntsville, where several dozen actors and locals were dressed in traditional Indian clothes for a temple scene.

Badwal would not discuss the film's plot in detail, but she said some scenes will be filmed at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center. The film will be the most expensive Indian movie ever made, she said, partly because of the technical equipment the plot requires. Producers have brought 90 people from India to Huntsville and hired another 50 from American production companies, Badwal said.

Prashant Shah, U.S. executive producer for the film, worked with the Alabama Film Office and the U.S. Space & Rocket Center to arrange production of the film in Huntsville.

Friday's filming was of a wedding blessing from a priest to a couple engaged to be married. The cast went through several takes while visitors, including U.S. Space & Rocket Center CEO Dr. Deborah Barnhart, watched from the back of the temple.

Khan has not arrived in Huntsville, and producers won't say when he will arrive or how long he will be in the city. Known in India and around the world as SRK, Khan has appeared in more than 80 films. He is the co-owner of his own film production company and has won awards for his support for children's education and for women's and children's rights in India.

Hindu center President Rashpal Thakur said having a movie shot at the center "is a new experience," but he said it was "a very thrilling experience to share our religion and culture."

The Huntsville area has a large Indian and Indian-American community with many members employed by the city's aerospace and defense industries. Thakur said the center has 1,000 families on its roles with about 500 active at any given time.

When Farhan Akhtar decided to remake Don (1977) with Shah Rukh Khan, it looked like he visualised it as a franchise. It’s been over six years since Don 2: The Chase Continues (2006), and though the filmmaker had dropped major hints about Don 3 in the climax, there has been no development on that front since then. But now the project seems to have been set in motion!

SCRIPT LOCKED

Farhan has developed the script. Says a source, “He had bounced the idea off to SRK, who liked it. Farhan had taken a break from acting and channelised all his energy into developing the script for this film of the Don franchise. He has finally locked the script and things are moving in the right direction.”

DIRECTOR AND ACTOR

While Farhan has directed Don and Don 2, the next instalment will also have him starring in it. Reveals a source from the team, “Farhan will also act in this film. He will play a desi top cop to Shah Rukh’s Don. Since a portion of the film will be set in India, Farhan will be seen donning the policeman’s uniform in the film.” Previously, there were talks about him playing Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s role in Raees, but that didn’t materialise then.

NEW HEROINE

In the first two films of the series, Priyanka Chopra played Roma, the Interpol inspector, who is trying to arrest Don. But the new film won’t have PC. Says a source, “The storyline is such that it doesn’t need Priyanka’s character. It’s likely to have a new cast, which will be locked soon.”

ROLLING NEXT YEAR

While Farhan is busy giving finishing touches to the script, we hear he and SRK plan to bankroll the project mid-next year. Our khabri adds, “SRK will be finishing Salute and then get to this film straight away. It is likely to release in 2020.” We reached out to Farhan, but he chose not to comment.

Farhan Akhtar to play a cop in Shah Rukh Khan’s 'Don 3'?

Six years after the release of Shah Rukh Khan's 'Don 2', it now looks like things are falling into place for the third instalment. According to a report, Farhan Akhtar, who helmed the last two films, has penned down a script for 'Don 3'. He reportedly took a sabbatical from acting to concentrate on this story which SRK has liked. The report further states that Farhan will also act in the film. He will be allegedly be seen playing a desi cop and donning the 'Wardi' as part of the film will be shot in India. However, fans expecting to see Priyanka Chopra as Roma in the film may be disappointed. Her character is not needed in this storyline and a new cast will reportedly be brought on board for the film. Once Farhan finishes the script, it is being said that Shah Rukh will back the project that is expected to go on floors mid next year and is eyeing a 2020 release.

Priyanka Chopra To Be Replaced By Farhan Akhtar In Don 3?

When Farhan Akhtar decided to collaborate with Shah Rukh Khan to recreate the 1977 classic Don, fans were on top of the world. They absolutely loved their favourite star, SRK, in Amitabh Bachchan’s shoes and his chemistry with Priyanka Chopra. The film became such a huge hit, that Farhan made its sequel, Don 2 : The Chase Continues in 2006. It’s been a little over a decade since then and fans are waiting for the third installment, particularly after Akhtar dropped major hints about Don 3 in the climax of Don 2. However, there has been no development in all these years, making us wonder if the film is even happening or no. However, if recent reports are to be believed, the project seems to have been set in motion.

Farhan has reportedly developed the script. DNA quoted a source as saying, “He had bounced the idea off to SRK, who liked it. Farhan had taken a break from acting and channelised all his energy into developing the script for this film of the Don franchise. He has finally locked the script and things are moving in the right direction.” Needless to say, fans wanted to see Priyanka play the role of a cop in this film as well, but she reportedly declined the offer. Thus, this time audiences will not only get to see Farhan direct the film but also act in it. He will be playing a desi top cop to Shah Rukh’s Don.

The source further revealed to the leading daily, “Farhan will also act in this film. He will play a desi top cop to Shah Rukh’s Don. Since a portion of the film will be set in India, Farhan will be seen donning the policeman’s uniform in the film.” Previously, there were talks about him playing Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s role in Raees, but that didn’t see the light of day. Furthermore, the source said that the storyline is such that it doesn’t need Priyanka’s character (Roma) in it at all and thus is expected to have a new cast that will be finalised soon.

Currently, Farhan is busy giving finishing touches to the script and we hear that SRK and plan to co-produce the film mid next year. The khabri further told DNA, “SRK will be finishing Salute and then get to this film straight away. It is likely to release in 2020.” So, are you excited?

Currently, Shah Rukh Khan is shooting for his film ‘Zero’ alongside Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma. Upon its completion, he would start working on Don. For now the script is being prepared and once completed, it will reach SRK who will then move things forward. In an unofficial announcement on Instagram, producer Ritesh Sidhwani posted a photo of Shah Rukh Khan as Don with hashtags that didn’t clearly reveal anything but hinted about the upcoming sequel of the biggest and longest-running action franchise, that is Don.

Don films are about a hindi language drug dealer who holds a powerful place in the mafia and keeps evading police arrest. The first Don film made in 2006 starring Shah Rukh Khan was a remake of Amitabh starrer version of 1972 movie Don. The movie had earned 106 crores in revenues back then. The second movie Don 2 came out in 2011 and it too, made a business of 220 crores. However, there is no news whether Priyanka will reprise her role but Farhan Akhtar is determined to make a long-lasting impact with his debut movie.

Rumor has it that Shah Rukh Khan is leaving no stone unturned for Rakesh Sharma's biopic Salute, which was earlier supposed to star Aamir Khan.

After Aamir Khan backed out of first Indian astronaut Rakesh Sharma's biopic Salute, Shah Rukh Khan has come on board. It is said that the change was reportedly smooth and amicable.

In fact, Aamir personally met Shah Rukh and urged him to take up the project, and the latter obliged. Since Aamir intends to devote his entire time to a mega project — presumably the Mahabharat — the Thugs Of Hindostan actor has apparently stopped accepting any projects at the moment.

Now, rumor has it that SRK is leaving no stone unturned in seeking Aamir's help for researching the project.

A source told DNA: "King Khan has asked Aamir to help him out with the research he did for the film when he was supposed to do it. Knowing what a perfectionist Aamir is, he must have done detailed research and SRK will only benefit from that."

The superstar will start preparing for Salute in May, after wrapping up Zero. "SRK will wrap up Zero by April-end, after which he will be busy for the next three months prepping for his character in Salute. He will be doing his own research with his team and studying the nuances to play the astronaut. That's why he's taken a three-month break in between to devote himself fully to the biopic," a source told the daily.

Interestingly, Shah Rukh is not new to projects related to astronomy. He played a NASA engineer in Ashutosh Gowariker's Swades.

Meanwhile, Zero — directed by Aanand L Rai — also has Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma in key roles. Zero will see the Badshah of Bollywood play a small person. The film is set to release December 21, 2018.

On the other hand, Aamir is filming the last leg of Thugs Of Hindostan in Rajasthan. The movie also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Katrina.

Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya and produced under the Yash Raj Films banner, Thugs Of Hindostan is scheduled for release in Diwali 2018.

The biopic on astronomer Rakesh Sharma was in the news since a very long time for the actors associated with it.

Aamir Khan was supposed to play the lead in this movie, but he reportedly suggested his nemesis Shah Rukh Khan’s name for it.

SRK seems to have come on board on one condition, it being that Aamir give him the research material he previously prepared.

A source told DNA, “King Khan has asked Aamir to help him out with the research he did for the film when he was supposed to do it. Knowing what a perfectionist Aamir is, he must have done detailed research and SRK will only benefit from that.”

Priyanka Chopra too was reportedly going to pick the film as her next Bollywood movie, till Aamir’s name was linked to the project.

Now that Shah Rukh Khan has become the lead for the biopic tentatively titled ‘Salute’, it appears that Piggy Chops might have opted out of the project and chosen to work with Salman Khan in ‘Bharat’.

That Shah Rukh Khan is stepping into Aamir Khan’s shoes to play the role of astronaut Rakesh Sharma in Salute is known. Apparently, Aamir passed on the role to SRK because after Thugs Of Hindostan, he will get busy with his magnum opus, a period drama based on the Mahabharat. However, he was so impressed with the script of Salute that he wanted it to be made and thought SRK would be apt for the role. Now, we hear that SRK is also taking Aamir’s help before he gets into the project completely.

Says a source, “King Khan has asked Aamir to help him out with the research he did for the film when he was supposed to do it. Knowing what a perfectionist Aamir is, he must have done detailed research and SRK will only benefit from that.” Now, that’s some Khan bonding for you.

13 Unpopular SRK Quotes That Prove He's The King Of Bollywood

13 Unpopular SRK Quotes That Prove He's The King Of Bollywood

"I have not come here to compete. I've come here to rule."

13 Unpopular SRK Quotes That Prove He's The King Of Bollywood

Shah Rukh Khan a.k.a. SRK a.k.a. King Khan turns 51 today. Khan who began his acting career in the television serial Fauji in 1988 and entered the film industry with Deewana (1992), has given us memorable characters such as Ajay/Vicky in Baazigar, Sunil in Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na, Raj in DDLJ, Kabir Khan in Chak De! India, and Mohan Bhargav in Swades.

Hailing from a middle-class Delhi family, Khan has reached the acme of Bollywood hierarchy through a combination of hard work and talent.

The numero uno star of Hindi cinema is also extremely articulate off screen, and known for his witty one-liners that make him stand out as one of the more intelligent artists working in the entertainment industry.

While many actors shy away from answering questions that could land them in controversy, SRK likes to take them head on.

1. On his arrogance.
"Film industry mein thodi si ji-huzoori zyaada hoti hai. Wahan pe ek tareeka hum logo ne apnaya hua hai ki jaise hi milte hain toh, "Sirjee, kaise hain? Kamal hain aap toh sir."
"Waise hi hum actor, producer, director sab ek dusre ke peeche aise hi ghoomte hain. Toh yahan par jo bhi aadmi khada hokar namaste karde toh usko thoda sa arrogant maan lila jaata hai."

(People in the film industry try to flatter each other a little too much. Actors, producers, directors practically tail each other just to stay in their good books. So, when a guy just stands still and greets someone with a Namaste, people call him arrogant.)

 2. On intolerance.
"Creativity bahut secular hoti hai. Creativity ke andar na koi dharam, koi jaat-paat, region-religion nahi aata kabhi bhi.

"Humein kalaakaar se pyaar hai, na ke kahaan se aayein hain."

(Creativity does not involve caste, religion or region. We love the artist, not his or her background.)

3. On Anti-Nationalism.
In 1998, Shah Rukh Khan was interviewed by Farida Jalal and asked what he would change if he could rule the country for a day.

5. On Terrorism.
SRK spoke about religion, humanity and terrorism at an event, billed, "A Nation In Solidarity Against Terror" that was held in India Gate in Delhi in November 2009, a year after the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attacks.

"I'm often asked nowadays, probably you are asked the same thing — What is your opinion on terrorism? I find this a very strange question because no one can have a difference of opinion on terrorism. Maybe because I'm a Muslim, people ask me to make sure my opinion is the same as theirs."

6. On Television shows.
"I have a lot of people around me who do acting and still work in television serials. So, if stardom is equated in terms of the value of payment and value of time, then the television stars are much bigger stars. Television is as respectable as films."

7. On Stardom.
"I do enjoy being a star. There was a time when I thought... there are times when I still think I'm not big enough a star. I think I would miss being a star. It's like seeing in future and seeing that when I go down on the roads and I'm not able to make people smile when they look at me, which I think is the greatest gift god has given me."

8. On Method acting.
I don't immerse myself in a character. I don't kill myself for dying in a scene in a film. I don't run 10kms because I have to seem out of breath. I don't believe in the method of method acting. I've read about it, I've learned about it. I completely disagree with it, maybe because I cannot do it. Or maybe I find it silly."

9. On Money.
In an interview with Ankur Pathak of HuffPost India, Khan said:

10. On working women in the industry.

11. On competition in the industry.
"I compete with me. Why do I compete with me? Because I don't think anybody is good enough. And I don't mean to deride anyone. Because if I start looking around me and competing then everybody I have to compete with."

"You don't look back. You don't look on your side. You don't look at the guy in the front."

"I don't have any competition. I will be very honest. And I don't say that with immodesty or self-centred pompousness. I don't have any competition. I have not come here to compete. I've come here to rule."

12. On a rumour-free career with Bollywood actresses.
"I hide my romance in the same place as my money from the income tax."

13. On marrying a Hindu woman, Gauri Khan.
Khan narrates a funny incident from his wedding in an interview with Farida Jalal.

The actor has beaten most other Hollywood stars like Angelina Jolie, Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Cruise. The most appreciable thing about this is calculated from December 2007 to December 2017.

Bollywood’s ‘Badshah’ Shah Rukh Khan is a popular personality not only in India, but in foreign countries as well. And the latest standings of the most searched celebs on ‘Wikipedia’ is proof of this. ‘Zero’ star Shah Rukh is second most searched celeb on Wikipedia. The list has 32 names of actors from Hollywood and Bollywood and is calculated between December 2007 to December 2017. The list also features other Bollywood stars namely, Salman Khan and Sunny Leone.

Interestingly, in the mean process, Shah Rukh has beaten big Hollywood stars such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Dwayne Johnson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise and Ryan Reynolds. Meanwhile, the top five celebs are Kim Kardashian, Shah Rukh Khan, Angelina Jolie, Leonardo DiCaprio and Dwayne Johnson. While former porn star Sunny Leone ranks at 20th, ‘Dabagg’ Salman Khan is placed at 29th position.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Shah Rukh will next star in Anand L Rai’s ‘Zero’. The film also stars Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif in pivotal roles and is slated to release on December 2018.

Shah Rukh Khan Zero Movie

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh has grabbed attention with his recent tweet, in which he posted a picture from the sets of Zero. The actor, who is not a morning person, was called for an early shoot by Aanand L Rai. In the photo, SRK is seen sleeping, while Aanand looks at him with a wide smile and Katrina Kaif points towards the superstar.

Shah Rukh shared the picture saying: "When the company is sooo scintillating & exciting that u can't keep ur eyes open! Serves them right for calling me to early morning shoots for #Zero ( Pic courtesy: Katrina my media manager ) (sic)."

To this, Katrina commented: "Haha .... now u see what I do .. wait."

We wonder what will Katrina do next as a revenge to SRK's post. The actress had earlier revealed that initially SRK was not even part of the film.

"Initially, I was supposed to play myself in Zero. The film was titled 'Katrina Meri Jaan'. There was a different cast on board and Shah Rukh sir wasn't part of it. Now, it's a satirical take on an actress," The Asian Age had quoted Katrina as saying.

In Aanand L Rai's Zero, Shah Rukh will be seen playing a dwarf, which also stars Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif. This is the second time the trio are working together, after Jab Tak Hai Jaan.

Zero will be the last movie of late Sridevi, who has a special appearance in it. Along with Sridevi, there are other big actors like Salman Khan, Alia Bhatt, Kajol, Rani Mukerji, Deepika Padukone and Karisma Kapoor in a cameo.

Zero also stars Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif with a special appearance of Salman Khan in a song. It will also be the last appearance late actress Sridevi on the silver screen, who’ll be seen in a cameo along with other actresses. The film is all set to hit the screens on December 21, 2018, during the New Year weekend.
